Kayla Setter's love for fashion design is inspired by costumes from television, films and literature. Throughout her studies she has created clothing that transcends mainstream fashion trends and leans more towards imagination and fantasy. Kayla’s decision to specialise in Costume for her final year of the Bachelor of Design (Fashion) was, therefore, the perfect opportunity to put these skills towards something she is has a passion for.

Kayla’s latest influences come from manga and anime. She is also drawn to the way in which examples of Japanese fashions are both historical and forward-thinking, representing clothing of the future as well as contemporary cosplay.

Kayla’s French Revolutionary period costume is based on the character of an aristocrat.
