Chanel Hsu pursued her specialization in knitwear design for her final year collection, as it allows her latitude in creating distinctive textiles as well as expanding her freedom in designing.

Inspiration is drawn from Andre Kertesz's photographic series, Distortion, for her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.  Chanel’s design aesthetic is driven by this artist’s intriguing, deformed and unidentifiable female figures. With a focus on knitted fabrics, her garments are manipulated and altered, dramatically twisted and turned to extremes. An electric mix of sculptural silhouettes and fabric textures provides a look that is unconventional yet wearable.
