Hannah Markham

Hannah Markham chose to specialise in knitwear for her final year specialisation as it was something new and exciting for her to learn and also gave her the freedom to design and create her own fabrics for her range. The influences on this collection were both her obsession with crystals and with Ryan McGinley’s exhibition, Moon Milk, comprised of a series of photographs taken in unexplored caves across America. What inspired her in regard to these images were the psychedelic colours against the formations of the caves as the backdrops. Hannah has created her own textiles, replicating the texture and appearance of the crystalline surfaces and linear forms of these caves. Her wearable collection, mainly created using silk and cotton, and also titled “Moon Milk” after the exhibition, demonstrates a fun, youthful feeling.
