Jesse Lolo

jesse lolo

Jesse Lolo’s men’s collection examines the concept of androgyny within the Samoan culture, as well as the relationship between Samoan culture and Westernisation, inspired by photographs of pre-Western and post-Western colonization in Samoan history. It explores androgyny in relation to Fa’afafine (men who dress/act like women in everyday life), as constructed by traditional Samoan thinking and ways of life. Jesse also questions the idea of what it means to be male or female in a Western society.

Jesse Lolo enjoys designing garments that are dramatic, mind-provoking but also fun. He believes that one should aim to live life to the fullest, and that this mindset can be portrayed through clothing.
