Eliav Meltzer

Eliav Meltzer’s graduate range is inspired by the sacrifice of his great uncle who lost his life in a bombing mission in World War II. Like in many war stories, his uncle’s tells of a selfless decision to forfeit his own life so that his co-pilot would have a chance of survival after their plane had been hit by enemy fire. From this influence, Eliav has developed a refined menswear collection for Autumn/Winter 2012.

The collection’s aesthetics, details and silhouette, are influenced by 1940s aviation gear, particularly in regard to the function and practicality of these garments. He has marketed his range as street wear, which also sits very comfortably with the type of wet and cold conditions that pilots would have endured at war.  Eliav Meltzer has considered the technical qualities of his fabrics, being crucial to his design practice, the colours of which are a series of bright and muted blues, greys, and browns.
