Growing up in central Auckland, Ashleigh Jenkins has designed her women’s collection, for her Bachelor of Design (Fashion), with urban city dwellers in mind. She is inspired by the shapes she sees and this is quite often reflected strongly in her work, with industrial architecture as the main concept. Using fabric manipulation techniques, she expresses and creates sculptural shapes in her garments.

Ashleigh’s love for unique textiles is also a driving force behind her graduate collection. Upholstery fabrics, plastics and leathers reflect the industrial aspects that support her creative structures. In utilizing these heavier fabrics, Ashleigh demonstrates the strength of the frameworks, applied as a shape to these forms.
