For her final Bachelor of Design (Fashion) range, Kathie Park found a particular interest in religious paintings of the early Renaissance period. Kathie’s Spring/Summer 2012, women’s streetwear collection echoes the idea of repetition, her main reaction to studying numerous artworks portraying the icon of the Madonna. Madonna’s significance, symbolised by the colour blue, sometimes represented by lapis lazuli (cobalt blue), was the driving force behind Kathie’s decision to experiment with blues. Kathie has also created a set of prints which reveals much about her own artistic abilities but also emphasises the notion of repetition. |
