Nirtika Niranjan’s love for design comes from her family who has both inspired and encouraged her passions in education and life with a hands-on approach. This has led her to the Bachelor of Design (Fashion) specialising in women’s wear whereby she has explored and developed her interest in shoe design.

Nirtika started her final year by creating flat pack shoes for vending machines inspired by the Japanese geta. Also influenced by historical and contemporary Japanese architecture, Nirtika’s Spring/Summer 2012 range of avant-garde women’s shoes continues on from this.  She has challenged the traditional shoe by breaking away from conventional materials, construction and aesthetics.
