Chrystal Tayler, for her third year of the Bachelor of Design (Fashion), chose to specialize in women’s wear, as she enjoys designing and making clothing for women and wants them to feel confident in what they wear and to embrace their individual beauty.

Chrystal was born in New Zealand and is the youngest child of her Filipino mother and English father.  Chrystal brings her heritage into her designs and combines these different cultures.  Her parents have encouraged her to research into their pasts, understand where they have come from, and recognize their cultural backgrounds. The ’60s ’look’ of her collection is referencing her father. She has also alluded to her mother’s Filipino origins, in regard to colours and fabric designs. Chrystal is inspired by old family photographs because they give a clear view of what the atmosphere and fashion was like at the time.
